The show really never ends.
Mapping Memory: Beauty in the Inconsequential
In July of 2015 I began experimenting with mark-making and abstraction as part of a daily visual and creative journal. By the summer of 2017, I had produced at least 90 (who has the time to count) small, intimate works on paper. I was hooked. What started as a regular habit of self-expression and mindfulness, turned into a whole new style for me that I am still in the midst of exploring.
What resulted from that period of exploration is an exciting new series of large-scale work that was recently launched at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
The show at the Shenkman may be over but the paintings have moved to new locations.

“It’s the multidimensional approach that makes Karen’s work pop. She is meticulous in her composition; she has a terrific understanding of tone.”
Mike Taylor, visual art program director at the Shenkman Arts Centre
